About the Author
Ann S. Kliman co-founded The Center for Preventive Psychiatry in 1965 after several years of researching children's reactions to the death of a parent at The Albert Einstein Departsments of Child anad Social Psychiatry. Since then, as Director of the Center's Situational Crisis Service she has worked with children, adults, families and communities victimized by acute situational crises. She supervises interns and Fellows in Psychology,and Clinical Social Work as wellas directs clinical intervention with patients. Ms. Kliman has directed community therapeutic intervention programs following hurricanes, tornedos, floods, war, and sexual abuse of children. As consultant to various school systems she has helped to organize on-site crisis teams and to facilitate early identification of children at risk. To complete the life cycle she currently is a consultant to a Home for the Elderly. Ann Kliman serves on the Board of the Westchester Psychological Association and The National Hospice Association.
