About the Book
Women Who’ve Recovered From Alcoholism is a portrayal of the lives of thirteen women, from many walks of life. Recovery from alcoholism is the central focus but at least one major issue is also uncovered in each biography such as the loss of racial or cultural identity, resolution of grief from the death infants or miscarriage, the loss of custody of children, or child sexual abuse.
Women represented in this book were raised in a variety of circumstances from wealthy St. Louis during the great depression to a Native American reservation in New York to the tobacco fields of South Carolina. Each inspirational story offers hope and this message to the woman who is alcoholic, “If I can do it, so can you.”
