About the Book
THE BRITISH ARMYS EXPERIENCE IN PALESTINE, 1945-1948, was not a happy one. In the absence of a sustainable national policy, the authorities were for the most part forced to respond to events, leaving the initiative in the hands of Jewish and Arab political and paramilitary groups. Meanwhile, world opinion lined up behind the Zionist cause, isolating the British in what Winston Churchill called this squalid war. Not surprisingly, very little has been written from the British soldiers point of view on the last days of the Palestine Mandate. This book breaks fifty years of silence. The Author offers grateful thanks to Derek Nelson for assistance in developing this novel.
