About the Book

THE MYSTERY OF DARKSON HOUSE

FICTION FOR 8 TO 15 YEAR OLDS

This is the story of two girls, Karen and Jodie, who even when they are just sitting around wishing for a swimming pool, seem to get caught up in mysteries. When rumours were spread that the new people living in Darkson House were vampires, Jodie and Karen were skeptical.  Their first attempt to disprove the vampire theory ended in a fizzer.  Their courage was tested when Ron Rocco challenged them to look in the laboratory window at midnight. The boys were then forced to admit that Jodie and Karen were not wooses, but no sooner was that mystery solved than an even bigger mystery occurred: Jodie´s father was arrested for passing counterfeit money.

The evidence against Jodie´s father mounted each day, and everything that he did to prove his innocence made him look more guilty.  Struck down by a severe migraine, he was unable to search for the man using his drivers license. Jodie and Karen began their own investigation, but soon ran into trouble with the police. They then found they had to go back to the place they never wanted to see again, the mysterious Darkson House. It was only when the girls used a mixture of intuition and logical thinking that they were able to put all the pieces of the mystery together, and find a surprising answer.

Karen and Jodie are best friends, but they don´t always think about problems the same way. Jodie´s fave subject is science, and she likes to think things through logically.

Karen loves art, and can´t always follow Jodie´s thinking, she uses intuition: seeing with the mind´s eye, feeling with the heart, and looking for that surprising flash of inspiration to provide answers.

But this is their mystery, so I´ll let them tell it just the way it happened.

About the Author

MARCUS CLARK I was born and grew up in Sydney, Australia, a very long time ago, in fact last century! All the same, I can still remember what it was like to be a ten-year-old kid, what it was like to walk to school on wet, rainy days, to ride a bike down to the creek, to sneak pass the bully’s house on the way home from school, or talk to our dog in its kennel. Of course the world has changed a lot since then, but in a lot of ways things are still the same. I always loved to read when I was growing up and I hope that this novel will make you want to read more books. Remember, I have written this book just for you! I have made it as interesting and exciting as I could. So go on, have a good read!
