About the Book

Part coming-of-age-story, part spiritual odyssey, ‘It’s No Crime’ draws on the rather wider than usual experience of the young Jamie Duggan through whose eyes we see the story. Encounters with darker forces in the story ring true, and he proves he can hold his own. Anyone who has lived for any length of time in a foreign country, particularly one with as different a culture as Japan’s from Britain’s will recognise the authenticity of what happens to him when he gets to Japan. However, his respect for his kendo  is maybe what lifts him above the crowd as he goes about his quest. ‘It’s No Crime’ is a good read for the large number out there who see the possible dangers in front of them and wonder whether it’s actually possible to go through the fire and come out reasonable safe at the other end. It is.

About the Author

1954. After leaving UCW Aberystwyth in 1976 with a lower second in Economics he spent a brief but formative period as a brickyard labourer. This was followed by approximately four years in Materials Management for a major electronics corporation. In 1981, disgusted by Thatcherism and all its works, he left the UK for Japan to seek spiritual solace in kendo, the Japanese Way of the Sword. He made a brief return to the UK in 1984–86 to study at the University of Durham. He was not impressed with the changes wrought by Thatcherism to UK society. These days, he is not much impressed with New Labour either. For his sins, he is presently employed by a major Japanese steel corporation and lives in Kobe with his Japanese wife and three Eurasian children.
