About the Book

Rammrod Straight and rimrock hard, Quantro Quarrel is the quintessential cowboy of the Old West, epitomizing the myriad myths and legends still held to be true today.  In this explsove novel he rides the expansive cattle ranges, bulldogs wayward steers, fights the last Apache War, and later charges up San Juan Hill with the Rough Riders before hitching on as a star with one of the world's largest rodeo shows.

Peaceful and quiet by nature, he is a salty rider, among the first to leap from a galloping horse to hand-wrestle steers to the earth.  Through the years. One of his favorite horses is Greylock who is badly gored when Quantro fights Mexico's premier fighting bull and enrages the partisan crowd by showing up the matadors.

With the famed 101 Ranch show, he and famed cowboy and later movie star Tom Mix along with raconteur Will Rogers travel the country and even perform for King Edward VII in London. Quantro receives further public acclaim by his pursuit on horseback of an enraged bull up into the packed stands in New York City's Madison Square Garden.

Throughout his action paced life he is haunted by boyhood memories of the massacre of his family by raiding Comanches down in Texas.  For many years too he has to guard against bushwackers seeking to avenge his fatal shooting of a gang member.  In his actions and deeds, the history, traditions and "wing-ding ways" of the Old West unfold in a dramatic and spell-binding manner.
