About the Book

Nearly all of "The Colonel's Secret Recipes" were originally collected by Colonel Edwin M. Chance from a variety of sources from the turn of the 20th century to the mid-1940s while a few were recently added by Andrew C. Schenkel.  Attributed to their original creators or restaurants which made them their signature, each recipe offers a glimpse into the gastronomy of the casinos and nightclubs of pre-Castro Havana, the yacht clubs from the racy Jazz Age Caribbean to the more staid Philadelphia society of the period.  Arranged in a party-theme, The Colonel's Secret Recipes contains exotic recipes for entertaining the most discriminating guests.

About the Author

Edwin M. Chance "a.k.a. Rah-Rah" was a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army Corps of Engineers during WWI and founded the Philadelphia engineering firm that eventually became United Engineers. A world traveler and sport fisherman, the Colonel often went to great lengths to select the finest ingredients for his recipe of good living. The great grandson of the Colonel, Andrew C. Schenkel in his more irresponsible years worked in fine restaurants in Maryland and Colorado. He now is an account executive with Thomson Financial and working on another book that bridges knowledge formation, information theory and competitive intelligence. He lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife Mary Katherine.
