About the Author
Jim Sayers is an architect whose grandparents made their first garden out of the virgin forest on a Sydney Harbour forshore. He thinks a house with no garden is a sad thing. As a boy he became fascinated by historical biographies; books such as Memoirs of Hadrian by Marguerite Yourcenar, Robert Graves’ I Claudius and Count Belisarius; then just about every book he could get hold of. He has written articles for various Sydney, Los Angeles and New York magazines, also articles on travel for Qantas. This is his first attempt to mix history and fiction.
