About the Book
From 1933, when Del Brandt, at 17, first visited the beautiful vistas of the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, his love affair with the area never faded. For a week, for a month, for a summer, once even in a brief relocation, the journalist and historian from New Jersey found at once peace and excitement under the azure skies and towering peaks of his second home.
In retirement, Del and his wife, Hannah, were able to spend almost unlimited time in the Granite State (although never challenged its daunting winters.) There, writing for the Weirs Times, Brandt composed the wistful and informative essays that make up this charming volume. In these pages you will find not a tourist’s guide to the region, but a poet’s insight into its wonders. In the author’s own words, “I do but sing the praises of New Hampshire because I must.”
Readers will do the same.
