About the Book
Book Description (for the WEB) : War Plan ‘K’ takes the ‘Big Three’ of board wargaming - Battleship , Risk , and Stratego - to new levels most gamers probably never even dreamt of . He adds realism , accuracy , and excitement , but not at the expense of simplicity or by adding complicated ‘records-keeping’ so prevalent in most scholarly wargames . Battleship , Risk , and Stratego have sold in the millions of copies worldwide - never going out of print since their introductions - each over thirty years ago . That says something about their enduring worth as entertainment values . War Plan ‘K’ takes their basic approach a bit farther - adding scope and dimension which will appeal to more experienced gamers ; as well as helping newer gamers better grasp the finer points of the history or battles being simulated . Additionally , there are exercises included for the student of political science ; and illuminating treatments of diplomacy . New strategy options are available to challenge veteran players all over again . Approximately thirty pages of new rules and play options are devoted to each of the three games ; and a helpful guide to hobby wargaming is included - opening a doorway to those interested in taking a step further into this stimulating pastime . The reader is referred to a helpful reading list ; and provided the means of contacting hobby groups , publications , and websites . A book like this has been needed for quite some time , and now - long overdue - Patrick Kelley has satisfied the void . War Plan ‘K’ should be in the home of every boardgamer - of every level of involvement - especially those with children .
