About the Author

I was born in 1951, in Bryn Mawr, PA, the son of the late Marcellus H., Jr, Esq., and Caroline R. McLaughlin. I was educated at Lower Merion High School (graduated in 1972), received an AA in History from Northeastern Christian Junior College, a BA in history from Eastern College in 1976, and an MA (1978) and MS from Villanova University (1983). I am unmarried and have no children. I moved to my native Ocean City, NJ in 1990, to promote a writing career there. I briefly taught as a substitute teacher of history and writing at the high school here, and also in Somers Point, NJ. Since 1986, I have been writing articles of commentary for newspapers in Pennsylvania, New York, Washington, DC, and in New Jersey. I am a member of various societies, such as the NJ and PA Sons of the Revolution, the PA War of 1812 Society, and the Scotch-Irish Society of America. I am a member of CHIPS, INC., Ocean City, NJ, (since 1998), which combats overdevelopment in that city, and the wrongful razing of historical structures here as well. I have published two books on the history of Ocean City, NJ, since 1995; GREETINGS FROM OCEAN CITY (1995) and OCEAN CITY IN POST CARDS (1998-9).
