About the Author

Biography on Vanessa Marsot by Vanessa Marsot (so you know it’s true!) I talk easily with both humans and animals. I am fun and spontaneous, and up for anything. I enjoy myself so much that I spend a great deal of time with myself. I began painting things when I realized I had no money to buy furniture, so painting stuff I didn’t like was the only way to get new things. I apply this to all areas of my life. When I feel like having a new friend, I paint an old one. It really is a way to keep things fresh and new. When I was younger and poorer (oh wait—I’m still poor), I used to get insulted when people would want to hand me their old crap. I would take it personally, as if their crummy stuff were a reflection on my crummy self, and their opinion of me. Now, I seize it as an opportunity to express my creativity. I positively beg people to give me their old junk now. The uglier the better. I even adore scavenging (just be careful to verify there are no termites). Transforming a hideous piece of crap gives me boundless joy. And that’s what it’s all about, no? I started off as an actress/filmmaker. I’ve written, starred in, and directed several short films, comedy sketches, and spoof infomercials. My favorite short is called, “Dinner for Two,” and is about an axe-wielding Furby, who chops my head off and eats me. If you’d like to see this or any other manifestations of my diseased mind, contact me at Marsot@prodigy.net. Here’s a headshot of me—because I figure those headshots have to serve some purpose.
