About the Author

J. Willis Ulsaker was born in a small rural town in Essex, England, and grew up during the second World War. She studied nursing and became a State Registered Nurse. With the help and encouragement of her grandfather (who spent many years in America), she decided to immigrate to the United States. She spent two years working with alcoholics and drug addicts in Kansas City, Mo. During her husband’s and her own career with the State Department (U.S. Agency for International Development), they raised five children while traveling the world. As the years flew by, she decided to write her memoirs for the edification of her future descendants and other interested parties. The Ulsakers, both retired from Federal service, live on a north Florida island.
