About the Book

In the mid-1930’s times were hard in Eastern Mississippi. Sharecroppers often sat up at night guarding their meager food supplies against thieves. Two men, one a renegade Cajun outcast; the other a former moonshiner from North Mississippi met in a hobo jungle in Columbine, Mississippi and formed a lethal partnership that was to terrorize almost the entire state.

When his old friend Bob Thomas’s cabin was robbed and trashed, Deputy Calvin Stewart, three-quarters Choctaw went against his sheriff’s orders and set out to bring them in. Just then word reached him that two whole families in neighboring counties had been murdered and robbed. Sheriffs asked Cal’s assistance and the deputy embarked upon the varmint hunt of his life.
