About the Book
The Wright Brothers had worked and planned for years for this day. Performance trials of their airplane for the United States in 1908. Inexplicably, with Orville Wright at the controls, it crashed killing his passenger, an army observer. He was the first fatality in a powered flight in the United States. Considering the issues of power, wealth and prestige involved it would not be beyond the stretch of imagination to suspect sabotage. This roman a clef novel relates the Wright’s “crew chief” search for the perpetrators (?) while detailing the development of powered flight up to the end of World War I.
About the Author
Irwin Perton attended the School of Industrial Arts and Cooper Union in New York. He is a widely exhibited painter and sculptor with work in private and public collections. He has published short stories, essays and poetry as well as written plays that have received standing ovations at readings. In addition to various awards and citations for his art, a documentary film Perton directed received a gold medal at the International TV and Film Festival in New York. He has served as president of the Artist’s Alliance of East Hampton and Chairman of the Town Committee on Public Art
