About the Author
*Born in St. Louis, Missouri. *Graduated from Washington University, St. Louis, Mo. with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Drama. *Elected to Phi Beta Kappa, scholastic honorary, and Pi Epsilon Delta, dramatic honorary. *Married Ellsworth Matthews, - had three daughters, Christina Smith, Karen Beck and Kim Wallace. * After the death of Ellsworth, married Philip D. Compton, Jr., also now deceased. * Trained in music with private teachers, including concert artist Richard Hannon, and studied at the Ette Conservatory of Music, Kirkwood, Mo. * Taught piano privately for fifteen years. *Played keyboard with small combos in St. Louis, Mo. in the ‘70’s. *Wrote music and lyrics and played organ for the local Unity church in Overland, Mo. *Moved to Stuart, Florida in 1985 and played for the Unity Church there. *Moved to Paradise Valley, Montana in 1989. *Was commissioned a minister in the Church Universal and Triumphant, Corwin Springs, Montana in 2003. *Presently lives in St. Louis, Missouri and continues to write. *Sonnet was published in Young America Sings, 1945 *Be My Brother and Somewhere Beyond the Stars, music and lyrics, were recorded on Columbine Records label. *The Rose was published in Whispers In The Wind, National Library of Poetry, 1993 *An Angel’s Kiss was published in Best Poems of 1995, National Library of Poetry, 1995 *O Soul of Mine Rise Up was published in Best Poems of the ‘90’s, National Library of Poetry, 1996 *The Gift was published in Best Poems of 1997, National Library of Poetry, 1997 *The Search For God was featured on Poetry Today, New York City radio, WRTN, 93.5 FM.
