About the Book
This book was written to shed light on loss that occurred with Hurricane Katrina. Highlighted are the short stories written by the author that were originally meant to be published in the volume Songs of the City. Stories like “The Gravetender”, “The Rain,” and others. Songs of a City Redone is an attempt to talk about nonmaterial loss that was a result of the flooding. The stories have been summarized as best as possible. They are based on people and places In New Orleans, there were others who had similar losses and felt the same as the author did. Re-creating was a problem for them also. Some of their sentiments are included.
About the Author
I was a wife, but I still am a mother of two and a grandmother of two. There’s not much to say except it’s satisfying to finally publish my writing. “Born and raised,” as they say in New Orleans, the city holds a special place in my heart. I did spend one semester in Loveland, Ohio, on an exchange program while attending Xavier University, New Orleans. There was also time spent in St. Mary Parish after Katrina with my ex-in-laws. All my experiences, good and bad, have made me the gumbo that I am, chere.
