About the Book

Three college women, born in different decades, spend a weekend retreat in Northern Wisconsin in 1980. Their assignment is to employ self therapy in understanding themselves. This approach contends that successful psychotherapy is determined by the patient’s speaking aloud; that any therapist is irrelevant or even counterproductive. In search of personal growth and fulfillment, each identifies new vulnerabilities and strengths as she talks about rape, menarche, first sex, sexual abuse, abortion, marriage, lovers, divorce, and children. Two academicians work together in establishing this unique study of self therapy. Each was driven to participate for very different personal reasons.
