About the Book
Getting lost the first day of basic training was only the beginning of the misadventures of Private Hise, who never really wanted to be a “killer”, as the Army so specifically described his mission .
From falling in a creek on the obstacle course on a cold February morning to being punished for returning from a hospital stay without a light duty slip to finding a temporary paradise working in an Army Education Center, Hise relates his experiences as an Army draftee with a poignant humor.
Can a man who refuses to surrender his poetry book find success in the Army?
