About the Book
A young Italian/German man is fascinated by the “family” because his father and his uncle are “connected”. However, he knows from all he hears from his father and uncle that as a young Italian of mixed heritage, he could never become a made man. Through his uncle, he learns some tricks of the trade and is given some small jobs and even eventually is allowed to hang with some of the “good fellows” for awhile. He wins special favor for accomplishing a major good deed for the capos and also then the DON. This leads to several interesting twists of fate, determined and undermined by the young man himself to the point that he exceeds over several years his wish to be a made man. Be careful what you wish for?
Reviews from an earlier work by Joe Herold, HARK THE HEROLD SINGS:
“I laughed, I chuckled---many times---and of course I cried. I don´t know enough words to explain how deeply moving and touching the story was. Walter Reinhold, Author of CULTURE 4.0, and Professor of Music, NYU.
“The emotions and personal feelings were clearly and smoothly expressed; the story caused me to smile, to laugh, and to ponder." Kenneth Everard, Professor Emeritus, College of New Jersey.
