About the Author

LaPaula was born in Atmore, Alabama. At the age of two her family relocated to Jamaica Queens, New York. This is where she grew up. LaPaula graduated August Martin High School in June of 1989. In August of 1994, She married Exavier Barnes. Fours years later she attended and graduated the New York Restaurant School, where she majored in Culinary Arts. After graduation LaPaula relocated to Richmond Virginia along with her family. She and Exavier has five beautiful daughters. The same daughters that inspired her to write this very book. LaPaula’s daughters and their father share the same special bond as the characters in her book.
