About the Book

The day I pounded upon God's door, a true story of survival in the presence of trauma is by far the saddest and most compelling day of my life. While my husband, Peter and I were traveling on one of the nation's deadliest desert highways one cold December afternoon, we were suddenly cut off by a speeding commercial van. The catastrophic roll-over collision renderred my husband unconsious instantly upon impact. Minutes later, as I crawled out of the wreckage I was unable to rescue him from our trapped vehicle and due to blunt force trauma and his many serious injuries, his pulse and breathing had ceased, his heart had stopped beating, and I witnessed him die at the scene before Air EMT's arrived. Traumatized, injured, and in shock, I found myself on my hands and knees outside of our vehicle on the wet desert sand praying and pleading to the Lord for my husband's life. Miraculously and against all odds, I witnessed my husband return to life on earth shortly thereafter. While on life support for the next month in a hospital's trauma unit, my husband battled tremendous obstacles and fought daily just keep his life. The magnitude of of his injuries as well as my own grief and the uncertainty of his recovery at his bedside became unbearable. This book defines the limits of the human spirit and the boundless spirit of supernatural love among us.
