This collection of inspiring poems will uplift your spirit, encourage your heart, and renew your mind. Tough times are inevitable and sometimes when adversity hits, a strong dose of inspiration is the precise prescription needed to rekindle our spirit. These thought-provoking poems will enlighten you and engulf you in the power of healing, forgiveness, and self acceptance. Self encouragement is one of the most powerful tools available to us to assist in recalibrating the spirit and eradicating negativity. “Private Entries” is written to support this endeavor. This compilation explores hurt, pain and brokenness, while also examining love, life and the joys and challenges resulting from all of the above. It is my desire that you are submerged in the peace of God that stems from knowing that He is loving and merciful enough to always give us another chance to start over; and with Him, you can overcome any obstacle in life. As you enter through the passages of my “Private Entries”, may your journey allow you to discover deeper depths of love, forgiveness, and ultimately, peace.

About the Author

Formally known as Lisa Elaine Smith and poetically known as Lady Lyric; I am a native of Delaware where I currently reside with my beautiful daughter, Briana. During my childhood and adolescent years, I attended local public schools which gave me an opportunity to thrive and develop a love for the subject of Language Arts which lead to my passion for poetry. My love for writing began when I was a young girl as my mother can attest to me often writing stories and reading to her before she went to sleep. Although writing poetry was just a hobby, initially; the joy and fulfillment that it brought me caused it to become so much more. When I am not writing, I enjoy dancing and singing---especially to classic 80’s music, and Zumba. As a born-again believer, my relationship with God is of foremost importance to me. However, not everything you will read in this book will be of a ‘Christian’ nature, as some material will reveal to you some of the more challenging seasons in my life that God has and continues to deliver me from. Although I am human and continue to make mistakes, I am grateful for the areas in which I see growth and am excited about the desire that the Lord has placed in me to fulfill my purpose and destiny that He planned long before my existence became a reality. In this book you will find poems about love, family, heartbreak, inspiration, and other life lessons. While reading each selection, keep in mind that I do draw upon my own experiences in many of my writings. I believe that by doing so, it authenticates the material for the reader. I hope that you enjoy this compilation as much as I’ve enjoyed writing each selection. It has been a long journey that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I am extremely grateful to God for blessing me with this wonderful talent and the opportunity to share it with you in Private Entries: Expression from the Heart.
