The Adventures of Patroller Puffer, The Black Cloud, is a cautionary tale. These Fish of a coral reef community in the Florida Keys just might be going about their daily lives even today as you are reading this story. The Fish of Key Reef City have serious problems caused by The People. But a little Person named Thomas and a little Fish named Puffer, two very special outsiders, will join together and help them out. Thus, they will restore the faith of The Fish in the goodness of The People.


About the Author

Mary Faye Thomas Dudley Powell was Director of the President’s Environmental Youth Awards Program in Washington, DC, during the Administration of President Jimmy Carter. The program, established by Executive Order and administered by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, provided information to schools (K-12) to encourage environmental awareness and recognized young people at White House ceremonies for outstanding contributions toward the protection of wildlife, land, air and water resources. Later, she lived and worked in Australia as a media and public relations consultant, initially serving two years as Acting Press Secretary for the Minister for Health and Senior Media Advisor for the Department of Health in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. After returning to Washington, DC, she served as Director of Special Projects during the planning, fundraising, construction and dedication of a memorial garden in the nation’s capital to the honor of Arab-Americans. The two-acre garden site on Massachusett s Avenue was offi cially launched by President George Bush, Sr. and features and commemorates Kahlil Gibran, writer of THE PROPHET and other works. Mary Faye subsequently returned to her hometown in South Georgia and served as Special Assistant to Millard Fuller, Founder of Habitat for Humanity International. With a background in Public Relations, she has writt en and produced texts, including brochures, press releases and videotapes, both in the United States and abroad. In addition to Australia, she has lived in England and studied French at the University of Dijon, France. Currently, she is writing stories for young people to share with them the wonders of life and nature throughout the world.
