About the Author

Simmie was born in Seminole County, Oklahoma. She attended public schools in Seminole County and graduated from Douglas High School in Wewoka, Oklahoma in 1951. Simmie earned her AA Degree from Compton Community College and her BA and MA from California University Dominguez Hills. She also received her AA degree from the Southwest Institute of Religious Science and later was granted a Doctor of Divinity from the Independent Church of Religious Science. Simmie holds a Standard Life Elementary Teaching Credential and a Standard Life Pupil Personnel Service Credential, as well as, an Administrative Service Credential. Simmie is the Minister of her own Religious Science Church located in Carson, California. Simmie is the Mother of six children of which her two oldest are now deceased. It has been the passing of her two older children that has inspired her to write poetry which serves as a continuous healing process.
