About the Book

Casey Andrews struggled to rise above her unfortunate childhood only to find herself the scapegoat of a fellow employee’s embezzlement of company profits. Casey knew jail would be rough, but even her tough past did not prepare her for the battle over loneliness she encounters behind bars.

When Binnie May Holt, a.k.a. Coco, a convicted drug dealer, moves into her cell, Casey hopes they will become allies. However, Coco is just as much an instant enemy as the other prisoners until Casey saves her from being beaten up in a brawl. After that, Casey, Coco and two other prisoners—Tina, a convicted prostitute, and China, a convicted thief — become inseparable friends. As their parole nears, the four women plan for their future, deciding their dreams can only come true if they succeed in pulling off one last job that will set them up for life.

After the ex-cons move to New York City, they put in motion the plans to rob a bank. Each, in her own way, threatens to blow the lid off their hopes for happiness down the road. Tina continues her involvement in prostitution, China botches a petty robbery, Coco gets messed up with thugs from her past, and Casey complicates matters by falling for a cop.

Filled with adventure, intrigue, plot twists, humor, and four exciting femme fatales, this tale is not to be missed. Pack A Pretty Pistol packs a wallop.

About the Author

. . .Joyce Vought-Klopp Gilbert has spent more than a decade as a corrections officer in state prisons, both male and female facilities, and scenes of prison life are woven into most of her novels. “What the public has seen and read about male prisons is true under dire circumstances and depending upon what state it is controlled by,” she says, “but that type of portrayal is seldom accurate for women’s prisons”.   Writing as C. J. Comstock, she drew on her extensive experience in fashioning her novel about four female cons who, after they get paroled, team up—to pull a bank job.   Born in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, Ms. Gilbert still makes her home in Pennsylvania with her husband and soulmate, David, who she “discovered” at their 25th year class reunion. They share three children from previous marriages and two grandchildren. Her parents, George and Jeanette Vought live in PA. Her daughter, Tamaura Schulter, resides in South Carolina with her "sexy & young" husband, Martin. Her son, Shennon Klopp, and his family, Cathy, Bryant and Brandon, make their home in PA where Shennon is a police officer.   While writing as J.A. Klopp, she won over seventy-five poetry awards, and many of her award-winning poems have been published in magazines. Pack A Pretty Pistol is her first published book.
