About the Book

In depression-era Hungerford, MS, Boger Stevens is a problem to himself and those who care for him. He would identify his character flaw and find direction for his life.

The sawmill has shut down. The town’s livelihood is gone. Boger will receive a legacy when he is twenty-four. Now he is up for grabs. People want him for his expectations; girls his own age, his father, his mother, the ubiquitous poor of Hungerford.

What woman will win him? Who will his money benefit? Does even Death herself wait for him? Will the answers come too late?

About the Author

Homer Hunter, grandson of a Confederate soldier, was born at Raleigh, NC, January 22, 1927. His mother, a New Englander of an old “poor but genteel” family molded him. His father, stateside during World War I, met and wed his bride in Jamestown, RI. Homer was the only child from this marriage. Homer’s educational, work-related, social and religious roots are in the southeastern US, where his concern lies. He has a vast accumulated grasp for the cultural riches of this area, which is born out of love. Homer feels a calling. He is an evangel for his homeland and his people.
