About the Book

Dr. Nelson utilizes humor to describe some of the deep-seated problems that continue to perplex liberal arts colleges and universities. She points to the distortions in indiscretions that impact the educational process and then warp the purposes for higher education. By writing a compelling description of higher education through two decades, Dr. Nelson has emphasized and preserved the volatile, turbulent times of the 1960’s and early 1970’s in the California State University systems and addressed the conformity and compliance of the students in the late 1970’s.

She is intimately familiar with the conflicts between faculty and University administration, discord between university presidents and the Chancellor’s Office, and prejudice against various groups. Through humor, satire, description and intrigue, Dr. Nelson reveals the weaknesses in higher education.
