About the Author
Dr. J. Rick Turner is an experimental psychologist who has spent 15 years investigating the role of stress in the development of cardiovascular disease. He has published 6 books and almost 90 research papers, abstracts, and book chapters. He has received research awards from the Society for Psychophysiological Research and the American Psychosomatic Society, and is a Fellow of the Society of Behavioral Medicine. Professor Bruce S. Alpert is a cardiologist who attended medical school at the Johns Hopkins University. He is currently Program Director of the University of Tennessee General Clinical Research Center. For 20 years his research has investigated ethnic differences in the development of high blood pressure, focusing especially on the African-American community. He has almost 400 publications.
