About the Book

The characters are students and faculty at Winston Churchill Institute in Winnipeg in the year 11 of the ‘New World’. (old calendar 2033) The history and structure of the ‘New World’ is discussed. Super athlete Victoria is a scholar. Rhoda lives with Stan. Brilliant Fred is a conservative in the cooperative state of New Dacota. Ted comes from a rural radical background. Victoria has a sexual liaison with Professor Cunningham which comes to a surprising conclusion. She becomes Head-of-State, with Rhoda as her assistant. Ted visits an area where past, present, and future types of societies are investigated, by computer modeling. New groups are the Obese people and the Cosmic people. The latter are part of a time-travel project. Ted is accidentally projected 100 years ahead. Some of the world leaders promote a ‘limited’ war. Victoria and the ‘war attenuators’ try to prevent this occurrence. Ted lands in a nation of obese people. They find records of history of the previous 100 years. The population of the world has dropped and regressed back into a pre-industrial era.

Ted spent the next few days writing out
his findings on the root causes of war and
sent his report to Victoria.

About the Author

Arthur Schwartz is a retired engineer. He is now a writer and has produced many short stories. This is his first novel. Mr. Schwartz is also preparing a series of biographies of American public servants from the progressive and New Deal eras, for young adult readers. He lives with his wife in Newtown Square, PA, near Philadelphia.
