About the Book

Richard Denker is just your normal, New Orleans PI, making a living on corporate crime and divorce stakeouts.  But all of that changes when his friend and partner, Carlos, brings in the case of the beautiful jazz singer, Martinique St. Johns.  Her bizarre suicide in St. Louis Cathedral in the heart of New Orleans, fascinates Denker.  His quest to find the reason for her death leads him into the darkness of New Orleans’ secret side - the voodoo communities, the Mafia -  and, in the deeper darkness of Holy Shelter Swamp,  the loss of his best friend in a chilling ritual murder.  Dick’s seen Vietnam and he’s seen the corruption of the city’s court system where he once practiced as lawyer, but he’s never seen anything like what he’ll find pursuing his obsession with Martinique St. Johns and her sad, lost life.

About the Author

M. Kenyon Charboneaux was born in California and has since lived in Seattle, San Francisco, Phoenix, Miami and New Orleans, with stopovers in New York, Mexico and Los Angeles. She was educated at Arizona State University. She has published with several small magazines. “Cri du Coeur” is her first novel and won an Honorable Mention at the CNW/FFWA Writing Competition. She now lives in Lake Worth, Florida with her husband Charles Errico.
