About the Book

What I Know about You: 100 Lesbian & Gay New York Voices is fact as fiction, fiction as fact. Narrator Nick introduces his homosexual friends: the suave A-list and Fire Islanders, hustlers, street transvestites, lost kids, gender benders, etc.. Comic, tragic, camp, flip or sincere, they will make you fret, laugh out loud, think, understand. If true-to-life stories, this is personal history; if representative of the homosexual experience, sociology. But it’s all engaging, informative entertainment. These people are striking, perfectly credible, intensely human as each tells his or her story in his or her own words.

Explicit language, not pornographic.

About the Author

Leonard R. N. Ashley, PhD (Princeton), LHD (Columbia Theological, hon.) is Professor Emeritus, Brooklyn College of The City University of New York. His several dozen published books range from linguistics and literature, critical biography and military history, to a series of nine Barricade books on the occult. President of The American Society of Geolinguistics, past president of The American Name Society, he is an expert on “fringe vocabulary” of closed groups. His years of research for a dictionary of sex slang produced articles in Maledicta and familiarity with the fictionalized “native speakers” who appear in What I Know about You.
