About the Book

ADDIE came of age along with flappers, the Charleston, beads, bootleg whiskey and the automobile, during the decade fondly remembered as the ‘Roaring Twenties’. Beautiful, vibrant and exuberant, she loved life and she loved the handsome man she met and married and gave her whole heart.

When their daughter was born fulfilling her teen-age dream, she felt her happiness was complete. Life was good. She had her lovely daughter, she had a loving husband, and she was still part of a loving, caring family. Yes. Life was very good.

The roar of the twenties dwindled to a whimper as the thirties reared it’s ugly head. The husband she had treasured betrayed her just as the ‘Great Depression’ was gathering steam and she found herself a single parent long before it was fashionable. Her struggle to make a life for herself and her daughter deserves admiration, but all too soon her struggle became one for mere survival.
