About the Book
In the closing months of World War II, lieutenant Denney Pilgrim, a pilot assigned to the U.S. 9th Air Force, arrives in England to undertake a tour of thirty-five bombing missions in the European Theater of Operations. Tormented by self-doubt and the secret fears that he can never reveal, he finds solace in his friendship with the English girl, Heather Granger, and builds uncertain hopes for the future upon the foundation of his deepening love for her. The hazards of war, however, coupled with the girl’s enigmatic and baffling responses, serve only to undermine Denney’s desires and plans for them both. 'MISSIONS' is a bittersweet story of love set against the turbulent backdrop of savage aerial warfare.
