About the Book
This book is about going above-and-beyond for your boss, your employer, your employees and the public, your customer. This was the order of the day at the Clayton Solicitor General’s Office. Although on any given day or moment we had to wear many hats to help the public, it was the synergy amongst the employees that made us dynamic.
How common it is to hear the expression: “Look out for
No.1!” or to see the “me first attitude.” However, during my years at the Clayton Solicitor General’s office I noticed heroes who exemplified the very opposite. For example, have you ever had a boss that thought you deserved the benefits of retirement? Maybe there was a team that came together to encourage and support you without your request?
What about the boss that values you so much he or she
rewards you with an afternoon off or a reward of your choice? What about a manager that is such a good leader, she welcomes you to the office with open arms, fills in all blanks every step of the way, never removing herself as your cheerleader and friend? What about the boss that thought you were capable of so much more?
These are just a few of the special people I had the
privilege of working with for over 12 years. Interestingly, you can find all of them in an unlikely place, a government office. I dedicate this book to them out of a heart full of
appreciation.
Book Review
As a hard-working single woman in a male dominated field, it's quite challenging to receive ongoing praise for your dedication and contribution to the job. Very few of my employers were my personal cheerleaders or asked for my personal contribution to a project or solution to a problem. The few that were, are my personal outstanding leaders and the ONLY jobs that I looked forward to going to, with full knowledge that I was going to face another stressful day. This book is a self-help book for the "how to be a great employer" and for the employee who should never be overlooked or unappreciated. Some of my personal leaders are mentioned by name in this book and I feel that they are worthy of emulating, honor and praise.

About the Author
The Birth of my Service with Integrity came from my parents. A family cleaning business required us to rise early in the morning or work late into the evening to accomplish this job, thus we developed a strong work ethic. Instead of competing with each other, we worked together to procure excellence in our work. My mother always had a good mind for business and a desire to deliver a high-quality product. Volunteering in the community brings me the greatest joy and underscores the importance of dignity for people. Many of my brothers and sisters have gone on to become entrepreneurs, business administration majors and top-notch managers. Such a background served as great preparation for the quality of heart needed to succeed as a government employee.
