About the Book

Aptly named, A Lifetime of Poetry is an extensive collection of experiences and events that have occurred during the lifetime of the author. An invitation is extended to the reader to view a gamut of emotions expressed in verse and story form. Joy, sorrow, loneliness and love are seen among her shared thoughts and feelings as the author became a wife, a widow, a wife again, and then a mother. The author also reveals her long, frustrating search for answers that led to growth in her faith in God and victory in a Christian life. Which poem will speak to your heart?

About the Author

A Lifetime of Poetry I love poetry! Especially since my sixth grade teacher taught me how to write poetry following definite rules. In high school, at book report time, I would recite a poem because I read poetry books more than any other kind. Soon I found I was expressing myself in rhyme. High school graduation came in 1937, and I wrote a four-line poem for each student in the yearbook. I have been writing poetry ever since. When I married Earl Smythe in 1939, my poetry expressed the joy of being in love. Poetry helped ease the horrible hurt felt just six short years later at his untimely death. In 1946, my newfound relationship with the Lord became the subject of many poems. As I learned and grew in my faith in God, my verses shared these thoughts and feelings. 1947 brought many new rhymes to my life when I married Kenneth Davidson. Many occasions during the forty-three wonderful years we shared are remembered in a poem. Three daughters eventually became inspiration for more poems, as did other family and friends. Many of the poems include the stories that inspired them. As you read, I hope you will enjoy A Lifetime of Poetry and be blessed in sharing my lifetime of rhymes.
