About the Author
LEIGH SULKOWSKI is graduate of Washington and Jefferson College. She is a person of varied interests. Ms. Sulkowski has a BA in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. During her undergraduate career, she was a key member of the women’s basketball team at Washington and Jefferson College and was a two-time Kodak All-American. She enjoys traveling throughout the world, reading, and new experiences. Ms. Sulkowski was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She believes learning should be both entertaining and thoughtful. This book is about a peregrine falcon’s tour of the the city of Pittsburgh. Through this book, Ms. Sulkowski wanted to teach young children about points of interest in Pittsburgh. This book also covers the coexistence of wildlife and city life. Most people are unaware that there are peregrine falcons that make their home in Pittsburgh. Usually these animals make their nests on high cliffs in the wild, but they have adapted to roosting in Pittsburgh’s landmarks. The illustrations were done by Patricia Sulkowski, mother of Ms. Sulkowski. She is an amateur artist, but greatly talented. She made the city of Pittsburgh and Perry come to life by using authentic and realistic illustrations. This book will make children aware of the points of interest in Pittsburgh, while teaching them about the unique habitat of the peregrine falcons in Pittsburgh.
