About the Book
A Winter Sabbatical is the story of a middle-aged woman’s return to the place where she grew up. The idea of taking her young sons to live in Northern Minnesota without her husband was born out of academia’s tradition of encouraging professors to take a sabbatical from teaching every seven years. It took hold when her husband gave her his blessing. She set out with four objectives in mind, all of which received some kind of closure at the end of her sojourn. A surprising feature of the memoir is the pursuit of an objective that was never identified in the beginning.
