About the Book

The residents of Garden Gate never miss an episode of their favorite television show. But when a storm knocks out the power in their building, they decide to create their own entertainment. The stories they told that night include a lovable pet duck, a very unconventional birthday party, a couple of accidents, and slew of other childhood memories that have stood the test of time. With its perfect blend of humor and nostalgia, this endearing collection of stories will be sure to delight both the young and the young at heart. This feeling of nostalgia, which is evident throughout the book, is perhaps best summed up by the following poem from the chapter “Eloise’s Notebook”: Before Before I had a car I could go anywhere My imagination Would always take me there Before I had awareness I smiled all day long Before I knew the lyrics I enjoyed the song Before I had money I didn’t need a dime Before I owned a watch I always had the time
