About the Book

Luigi Benigno came to the United States from Belmonte Mezzano, Sicily ~1909. A grocer for a good part of his life, Luigi was also a prolific Sicilian poet who amassed over 200 poems which described his life, love, and beliefs. This collection translates some of his work from his native Sicilian dialect.

About the Author

Carmel La Sala-Promisel is the granddaughter of Luigi Benigno . As a second generation Italian-American, she grew up with the culture and stories of her heritage. After earning her B.A. in English from the City University of NY –Queens College, Carmel completed her MBA from St. Johns University in NY. A business analyst by day and full time mom at night, she currently resides in Westchester County, NY with her husband Ira, and their 7 year old triplets, Fiona, William and Michael.
