About the Book

This book is a small collection of Azerbaijan children folklore. Azerbaijan has a very rich and ancient folklore. This collection of stories is to try and bring Azeri literature to the English speaking world. One of the most popular and beloved stories in Azerbaijan is Jirtdan (Tiny) – a story about a very small, but smart boy, who tricked a big monster – called Deev and saved him and his friends from being eaten. Also, another popular story is about 3 small kids, their mom, and a mean wolf (Shangul, Shungul and Mangul). Then, we have stories about a wise boy (The Smart Child), a wise dad (The seven sticks), and an ignorant elephant (The angry bees) and a few more stories that are sure to catch your interest. Dear kids, and parents as well, we are hoping that you will enjoy these remarkable stories.
