About the Book
Exploring the overly chartered waters of the Chicago singles scene, Everybody Survives Bathing Suit Season offers an irreverent yet truthful, time-stamped trek through a year in the life of two best girlfriends. Firmly planted in their mid thirties and rather scattered after numerous failed relationships, readers get a voyeur’s view into the life of a bride-to-be and her promiscuous Ad Sales Exec confidant. The women of Bathing Suit Season greet each man – and each meal – with unbridled honesty. In fast-paced, quick-witted exchanges, a mirror is held to the often neurosis-inducing “wedding racket;” while love serves as the steady metronome in a symphony of first opinions, second-guesses and countless guilt trips. Join the Bathing Suit women as they traverse the urban social scene in search of the meaning of life, no matter the season.
About the Author
In Everybody Survives Bathing Suit Season, Robin Simkins offers an irreverent yet truthful, time-stamped trek through a year in the life of two best girlfriends. Not unlike her own early thirties experiences, the quasi-fictitious main characters traverse the urban social scene in search of life, laughter and love. Simkins takes a fast-paced, quick-witted turn at detailing the often neurotic, yet unarguably accurate day-to-day life of a thirty-something bride to be. The women of Bathing Suit Season, her first novel, greet each man – and each meal – with an unbridled honesty in signature Simkins style. As a corporate chameleon, Simkins has spent more than a decade in marketing and client services at a number of online advertising firms and often makes the unsubstantiated claim to be the oldest woman working in the Internet. A lifelong innovator, Simkins is also founder of Peace and Love, Inc., a company that champions children’s education outside of the classroom. Her imaginative WheeGO games and toys, grounded in sequential learning, empower children to take an active and creative approach to discovering the world. Simkins graduated with a degree in American Institutions from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. An avid sailor and worldwide explorer, Simkins strides through every city, and every situation, with an infectious energy and undying passion for peace. She lives in Chicago with her husband and their two children.
