About the Book

“Venus” draws upon an understanding of certain theological and historical principles to relate the story of one family's effort to implement a measure of change in a society seemingly in need of a new approach to living. You blend elements of romance and adventure, imagining a time and place when space travel and technology furnish the potential for exploration beyond what may be viewed as traditional boundaries.

One day while sitting at his desk, Mathis sees a “beautiful lady” pass and follows to ask her name, to which she replies, “Venus”. He asks her out and she accepts, initiating a relationship that seems promising. Meanwhile, Mathis' mother requests that he return to the lab to learn about a “breakthrough” in his father’s research. Venus accepts Mathis’ marriage proposal, then he leaves her for a time to keep his promise to his mother. When Venus travels to Texas, her true identity and mission are revealed. Mathis realizes he may have a destiny to fulfill as part of an endeavor to “save humanity.” With Venus’ help, Paul and Mary construct twelve “vacation ships.” Mathis starts a family with Venus, but “keeps an eye” on Earth, knowing the time might corm when he would have to return.

Leaving open the possibility for a sequel, Mathis bids farewell to his wife and children in the conclusion of “Venus” spurred by the “images in his mind”. Through your portrayal of the title character’s influence and interactions on Earth, you contemplate the role of faith and the place of the individual in society. As a whole, your contribution is designed to entertain as well as to enlighten and provoke thought.
