About the Author

Mary C. DeVoe writes under the pseudonym of Moxie Grant. She has Bipolar Affective Disorder and has learned through the years that one can be successful despite mental illness. This is her first published book. She has been recognized by the USA Honor Society for her talents and achievements in entertainment. As a professional Clown, she performs as “Moxie, the Clown Extraordinaire.” She is an active member of Clowns of America International, the Electric City Clown Alley, and was named as an International Clown Ambassador to China. She is also an improvisational actor with the Capital District Psychiatric Center’s Mental Health Players in Albany NY. Prior to working as a professional Clown, she was a Senior Personnel Administrator with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. Also, she was a professional Disk Jockey and Karaoke Host and a Tour Guide for local Albany attractions. She has done extensive volunteer work in many areas. She has completed college coursework in Psychology at Hudson Valley and Erie County Community Colleges and Public Service at Cornell University’s New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations. In her free time, she enjoys writing, singing, computers the arts and mystery shopping. She has recorded two CD’s and is a Certified Professional Mystery Shopper. She also volunteers for the New York State Coalition for the Aging in Albany NY and for the City of Albany Convention and Special Events Department. She resides in Upstate New York with her two cats, Baxter Duff and Bella Fortuna and her four goldfish.
