Charlie Foster

About the Book

Charlie Foster is a story of a seven year old non gender specific child being raised in the foster care system. I believe it is important at this time to leave the sex orientation of this character unknown so that each child male and female will feel as though they can relate to Charlie. Charlie has just arrived at his/her first placement. Charlie struggles with fitting in at school and gets teased for being a foster child. Charlie is determined to tell his/her story so others may better understand.

About the Author

Heather Walker was born in Lafayette, Indiana on June 20, 1978. She grew up in the states custody from a young age viewing first hand its strengths and weaknesses. At thirteen, she was taken away from her family and for the next three years was placed eight times in the states of Indiana, Illinois and Georgia. Heather was emancipated at the age of nineteen. Twenty three and single she took on the responsibility of raising her thirteen year old cousin. Heather currently lives in Louisville, Ky., where she is an author-illustrator, wife, mother and foster Parent.
