About the Author

Mrs. Bera Brown-Samuel is a retired educator and entrepreneur. After teaching in the public schools of North Carolina and Maryland, she co-founded TOHOB Academy. She was also the founder and director of Seat Pleasant Early Learning Center, Community Services Center and The Children’s Place. She was certified by the state of Maryland as an instructor in continuing education for adults working with children in pre-school centers. Being a firm believer in family inclusion, she and her husband James Samuel involved the children, Lisa Leone and Kraig Hill and grandchildren, Bryan Leone and Kraig Hill II in various phases of the business from students, to bus monitors to administrators. Her favorite saying was “Everybody in the house must work or go to school.” After 30 years of public service, she is returning to her childhood fascination of playing with words and expressing ideas.
