About the Book

“The Collective” is an intellectual fantasy in the tradition of Lewis Carroll, G.K. Chesterton, and Jorge Luis Borges. The story takes place in The Collective Unconscious, a universe inhabited solely by archetypes. It revolves primarily around The Queen in Snow White who suffers an identity crisis when she realizes that her story – supposedly eternal and unchanging – has a number of variations. Propelled by this crisis, she awakens to the possibility that she might choose her own destiny, a new destiny, by reconciling with Snow White. At the same time, The Evil Stepmother of Cinderella fame experiences a similar awakening. She, also, wants to change her story by claiming The Queen’s place on the throne. With the very nature of The Collective Unconscious now threatened by this evolving consciousness, The Committee – that iconic ideal of institutional control – tasks one of its representatives to stop the two renegade women. Characters such as God, The Snake, The Skeptic, The Psychic - all have their say while The Evil Stepmother schemes and The Queen pursues her newfound dream, largely unaware of the turmoil she´s created by stepping outside the bounds of her story.
