It is in the newspapers, magazines, on talk radio, and on television every day: America's culture war between the church and homosexuals. Advocates for homosexual "rights" have moved well beyond their early stated goal of "freedom of sexual expression" for gays and lesbians, to new demands for total legal equality and moral acceptance of homosexuals by all Americans. In recent years, this culture war moved off the streets and into the pews and pulpits of mainline Christian denominations. It now threatens to fracture some denominations, and may lead the Federal courts to step into the pulpits, and force pastors and ministers to marry gay and lesbian couples or face being in contempt of the U.S. Constitution.
