About the Book

About the Author

Leonard Warner entered U.S. military service on October 26, 1942 from Clifton, New Jersey. As a Tech Sergeant, he was trained as a Master Gunner and initially served in an anti-aircraft battalion in North Africa. Metamorphosis in the Mediterranean contains his personal recollections of World War II, spanning experiences in Africa, Corsica, and Italy and describing the overseas changeover of his anti-aircraft battalion into the 1125th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. The 1125th would go on to support the 10th Mountain Division during an extended period of arduous combat in the Appenine Mountains and Po Valley of Italy, where Warner was awarded the Bronze Star for his actions. In November 1945, he returned to the U.S. and married his sweetheart, Lillian Sabanosh.
