About the Book
How did a twelve-year-old boy come to skip out on his parents after they had celebrated the Passover in Jerusalem? What did Jesus do besides work in his carpenter’s shop before he began his ministry at age thirty? What were his disciples like, especially those we know only by name? Was there ever a woman he wanted to marry? Whatever became of the rich young man who could not bring himself to give up his wealth to follow Jesus? Jesus prayed alone at Gethsemane. How, then, were Gospel writers able to quote his prayers? Was Mary of Magdala a prostitute? How did farmers respond to Jesus and his parable about the sower of seeds? In what ways did God and Jesus communicate? What happened to followers after Jesus’ resurrection? Beak! is a biographical novel about Jesus that, of course, includes many of the people and events found in the Gospels. The author also attempts to answer the above and many other questions about Jesus through imagination, ponderings, discussions with others, study, wonderings and prayers. He hopes Christians, non-Christians, agnostics and atheists will read Beak! with open hearts and minds.
